KALAMATA BEACH
The beach of Kalamata, which is easily accessible and only a few minutes walk from the city centre, is one of the most endearing characteristics of the city. The extensive beach along Navarinou Street, with its palm trees and the colourful umbrellas, is not only one of the best spots for taking a walk in Kalamata, but also a very descent swimming solution.
Classic pastry shops and fish taverns co-exist with hotel beaches, as well as with organized and free-access parts of the beach under the shade of tamarisks, same as foreign visitors co-exist with local families or parties of young people and children. The beach is pebbly, the sea becomes deeper gradually and smoothly and the waters are warm and calm, seeing as it is enclosed in the Messinian Bay. The beach of Kalamata is freely accessible and has been decorated with a Blue Flag.
